The knitter I use/sell is magic. It is so easy to use. Going by all my past shows, I have taught as young as a 3-year old boy to a dear blind lady in her eighties. The tool is totally plastic, and includes a dolly, two interchangeable rotating discs and a pick-tool. as well as instructions. The discs allow for different widths of braid or use of different thickness of yarn. I use the 3-peg a lot, but have also used four pegs of the 6-peg one. You can use two/three yarns at the same time to create a different effect. Experiment! There is no right or wrong. It is what you want and the desired effect that is your guideline.

The problem with French-knitting normally is that one can mistakenly drop a stitch. It just slides off the metal peg! And then it has disappeared down the middle of your dolly and…. you need to start from scratch! However with this tool, which is virtually fail-proof, the hooks on the pegs hold the stitch whilst you are casting the stitch over it. The feeder arm feeds your yarn in at the correct height to be able to pick up the required stitch below it. There are also grooves in the pegs, and the pick tool fits perfectly in the groove, so that you can hook the stitch easily. The 'pick-tool ' is sharp enough for use, but not dangerously so. Safe for young children but you decide if your child is safe with it. As you rotate the disc, the yarn is drawn into position for easy continuous knitting. Pick up the lower stitch, hook over upper yarn onto pin, rotate the disc, so it is just stitch -rotate disc - stitch - rotate-stitch-rotate etc….

I recommend the use of weights whilst using the knitter. Anything will do, but I found useful magnetic weights, which are quick to attach, and easy to remove when you are finished. It pulls the work through for you, so you can just keep going!
